Draft for legal review
This is a draft. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and is not yet in effect. Until a final version is published here with an effective date, nothing on this page binds you or LifePath. Text in [brackets] is still to be decided.
Draft of November 3, 2026 · Effective date: [to be set when final]
LifePath is operated by [legal name of the operating company or person] (“LifePath”, “we”, “us”). These terms cover your use of the LifePath website at lifepath.tech, the LifePath app you can add to your home screen, and any related services (together, “LifePath”). Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we use it, and is part of these terms.
LifePath is invite-only for now. To create an account you must be invited, use the email address your invitation was sent to, and be at least [18] years old. You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for what happens in your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has used it.
Storyteller accounts. A family member can invite someone, often a parent or grandparent, to join as a Storyteller to record stories and add details to photos for that family. A Storyteller account is free and limited to the family that invited it. [If and when a paid upgrade is offered, its price and what it includes will be shown before anyone pays, under section 7.]
Family and Path Mates. When two accounts agree to share family information (Path Mates), each person can see what the other chooses to share. Either person can stop sharing at any time. What was already copied into the other person’s own records may stay there.
“Your content” means everything you add to LifePath: stories, memories, timeline events, people, places, photos, recordings, documents and the information you import from other services.
You own your content. You give LifePath a limited permission to store, copy, process and display your content only to run LifePath for you and for the people you choose to share with: for example, to build your timeline, find dates and places in photos, make backups, and show shared items to the people you shared them with. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other people already received through sharing and for backups that are deleted on their normal schedule [within 30 days].
We do not sell your content, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to train AI models that are offered to others. [Confirm with each AI provider’s terms before publishing.]
A life story naturally includes other people: family, friends, classmates and coworkers. When you add information or photos about someone else, you confirm that you have a right to do so, and you agree to use LifePath in a way that respects their privacy.
If someone asks you to remove information about them, please consider it fairly. We may remove content about a person if the law requires it or if it breaks these terms.
LifePath does a lot of the work for you: it reads dates and places from photos and imports, links records together, suggests people and places, and can use AI services to help extract and organize information. Every automatic change is listed on Changes so you can undo it.
Automatic results can be wrong. LifePath is a personal memory tool, not an official record. Do not rely on it for legal, medical, financial, genealogical-proof or other important decisions without checking the original sources.
You agree not to use LifePath to:
LifePath is currently free during the invite-only period. If we offer paid plans or upgrades later, the price, billing period, renewal terms, any free trial and how to cancel will be shown clearly before you pay, and those payment terms will be added here. [Payment processor, refund policy, taxes and automatic-renewal notices to be written with the payments decision.]
When you connect services such as Facebook, Google or Apple, LifePath only uses the access you grant, as described in the Privacy Policy. Your use of those services is also governed by their own terms. You can disconnect them at any time. We are not responsible for changes those services make that affect what LifePath can import.
You can export your data and delete your account at any time from your account settings, as described on our data deletion page. Deleting your account deletes your content from LifePath’s active systems.
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or if the law requires it. Unless that would be unlawful or put someone at risk, we will tell you first and give you a reasonable chance to export your content. If we ever stop running LifePath, we will give at least [60] days’ notice so you can export your content.
LifePath is still being built. Features may change, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. We work to keep your content safe and backed up, but we recommend that you keep your own copies of anything irreplaceable, such as original photos.
[To be written by counsel.] To the extent the law allows, LifePath is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of automatic results.
[To be written by counsel.] To the extent the law allows, LifePath is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for loss of data, and its total liability for any claim is limited to [the greater of the amount you paid LifePath in the 12 months before the claim or US$100]. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
[To be written by counsel: governing law (for example, the State of [state], USA), where disputes are heard, and whether there is an informal resolution step first.]
We may update these terms as LifePath grows. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app or by email at least [30] days before it takes effect. The date at the top shows when these terms last changed.
Questions about these terms can be sent through the LifePath support channels in the app, or to [contact email address].
